What is a community of experts?

Every organisation has collections of people who possess high knowledge and expertise in a particular field. They are subject matter experts and provide intellectual leadership. Our view is that CoEs are not limited to internal silos. They exist across company divisions, across organisational boundaries and between organisations. In addition to internal work communities around units, competencies and topics, all organisations have client/customer communities, partner communities and stakeholder communities that are all vital components in the organisational ecosystem.
